Taco Crescent Ring

I pretty much love any kind of food that is taco flavored or taco-themed. This Taco Crescent Ring is a huge favorite of my family and friends. I think I first had it at a Tupperware party many, many years ago and it’s been a crowd favorite ever since! It is filled with taco-seasoned ground beef and wrapped in crescent rolls. You top it all with cheese then bake! Simple as that. Then you can have fun adding your own favorite toppings! We make this Taco Crescent Ring often, especially for Taco Tuesday! It’s easy to make and so delicious – even for those picky eaters!

TIPS AND TRICKS ON MAKING A TACO CRESCENT RING:

  • This recipe can be served with any of your favorite taco toppings, feel free to add whatever you like.
  • I usually use a Colby Jack cheese but a Mexican Blend or cheddar will also work.
  • You can use your own HOMEMADE TACO SEASONING if you like instead of using a packet.
  • The butter helps the crescent ring become more golden as it bakes but it is optional.
  • Instead of adding the cheese on top of the crescent ring, you can add on top of the taco meat before mixture folding in the crescent rolls.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)

  • ground beef
  • taco seasoning
  • ground cumin
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • water
  • salsa
  • cilantro (optional)
  • crescent roll dough
  • refried beans
  • Colby jack cheese
  • butter
  • taco toppings of your choice

HOW TO MAKE A TACO CRESCENT RING:

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and break it up into crumbles. Brown the beef until there is no pink, 5-8 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.

Stir in the taco seasoning, ground cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder until combined with the beef. Let the seasoning cook with the beef, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add the water, salsa, and fresh cilantro and stir it in.

Cook, stirring occasionally until the sauce has reduced and the meat is coated but not dry about 3-5 minutes. Take off the heat and let cool slightly while you prepare the remaining steps.

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a large sheet tray with parchment paper. Place a similar-sized bowl to the one you will be serving the salsa in for dipping in the center of the sheet tray. Around the base of the bowl, lay out the crescent roll dough triangles, overlapping, forming a sunburst shape.

Spread the refried beans around the inside edge of the crescent rolls.

Top with the ground beef mixture.

Add 1 & ½ cups of the shredded cheese on top of the meat.

Take the crescent roll triangles and pull the ends over the filling, tucking the tips of the rolls underneath the base of the ring.

Brush the rolls with the melted butter.

Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the rolls are golden brown, fully cooked, and the cheese is melted on top.

Place your serving bowl with the extra salsa for dipping in the center of the ring. Garnish with your favorite taco toppings, we used shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced olives, and pickled jalapenos.

Slice and serve!

HOW TO STORE:

  • If you have any leftovers of this Taco Crescent Ring Recipe you can store it in an airtight container or ziptop bag in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • To reheat leftovers, place on a baking sheet and heat at 325F degrees until heated through. If you are heating just a slice or two you can reheat in the microwave until heated through.

  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 16 oz crescent roll dough 2 cans
  • ½ cup refried beans
  • 2 cups shredded Colby jack cheese, divided use
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter melted
