These Copycat KFC Biscuits are a delicious, super easy side to every meal of the day! They are extremely quick to make and are great all year round for meals! On a cold winter morning during the holidays, I personally am partial to a nice hot biscuit, but the best thing about these biscuits is that they’re so simple, you can have them anytime you like!
- 2 CUPS.Of all-purpose flour.
- 1 CUPS.Of buttermilk.
- 3 TBSP.Of vegetable shortening.
- 1 TBSP.Of sugar.
- 4 TSP.Of Butter Flavor-Crisco.
- 4 TSP.Of baking powder.
- 2 TSP.Of Sea salt.
- 1⁄4 TSP.Of baking soda.
HOW TO MAKE IT:
STEP 1 – The oven should be preheated to 400°F.
STEP 2 – In a large mixing bowl, sift the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, 4 teaspoons baking powder, and baking soda.
STEP 3 – Mix in shortenings until coarse crumbs resemble the mixture.
Stir in 1 cup of buttermilk only before it forms a smooth dough, at this stage the dough would be very loose and sticky.
STEP 4 – Sprinkle flour on a long wooden board; turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently 10 to 15 times or until the board is no longer sticky.
STEP 5 – Divide the dough in half; pat or roll each half softly into a 1/2“thick 8“ circle.
STEP 6 – Cut out the biscuits with a 2“ biscuit knife, pulling straight down.
Reform scraps, work to continue to cut as little as possible.
STEP 7 – Place cut biscuits with barely touching edges on an ungreased baking sheet. With whole milk brush the top of the biscuits, and bale them for 15 minutes, or until their color changed to a golden brown.
STEP 8 – After baking, immediately brush the biscuits with margarine, then you can serve them.
These Copycat KFC Biscuits are fluffy and flaky, ready in 20 minutes, you’ll love them with honey, gravy, or more butter.
